Adventurer & Journalist
newnew.jpg

"The oldest, most widespread stories in the world are adventure stories, about human heroes who venture into the myth-countries at the risk of their lives, and bring back tales of the world beyond men...It could be argued...that the narrative art itself arose from the need to tell an adventure; that man risking his life in perilous encounters constitutes the original definition of what is worth talking about."
From The Adventurer, by Paul Zweig

"Every journalist who is not too stupid or too full of himself to notice what is going on knows that what he does is morally indefensible"--
From The Journalist and the Murderer by Janet Malcolm

I got this quote from an interview with Jon Krakauer from The New New Journalism. A fun book for process junkies. Lots of interesting work habits.

A pretty effective cover design as well.

green tea
sketch2.jpg
I recently replaced my coffee habit with a green tea habit. I've done this before but this time I've been really enjoying it. You can drink it forever without ever feeling cracked-out. I used to drink 5 cups of coffee a day. Too much. I feel waaay better. Above is a drawing of my buddy's tea kettle. He uses fancy tea leaves. I'm not quite ready for that. I like the simplicity of the bags.

Here's an article on the benefits of green tea.:

demon party

Yesterday was my birthday, so this sketch book item seemed right. How did I celebrate? By attending Joey Sayers's gallery opening at the Cartoon Art Museum. That lady is awesome.
